DROP-IN
Drop-In is FREE and open to all young people aged from 12 years.   All activities are supervised by qualified, experienced youth workers.

The new facility was officially opened on 16 March, 2005 at 18 Treacy Street, Hurstville.

Drop-In hours

  • Wednesdays, 2.30-6:30pm
  • Thursdays and Fridays, 2.30-7.00pm

Drop-In Youth Cafe
The drop-in centre has loads of hot food and drinks at low as we can go prices.

  • Chips, nuggets, scallops, fizzy drinks and milkshakes ranging from
    $1 to $3
  • Cooking happens regularly and is a FREE healthy hot meal to anyone in drop-in.
  • Also if you want a snack and short of cash you can always get FREE toasted cheese sandwiches.

Hip Hop Dance Workshops
April - June Workshops - FULL
July to September Workshops: Call Athena on 9580 8008 and put your name on the waiting list.  Spaces are limited, so be quick.  Girls ONLY 12-18 years old.  Facilitated by experienced and renowned teacher - Angelique Stivactas.  Workshops are FREE.

Health for Life Program
Cooking workshops occur fortnightly.  Help the youth workers cook a healthy meal.  Learn skills in food preparation, cooking, and serving.  Basic skills learned in food hygiene and OH&S.  Great opportunity to gain skills and add to your resume.  Great reference obtained to help you find employment in the food industry.  All meals are free to young people.

JANUARY SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

Dates:    Wednesday 6th January to Friday 8th January 2010

              Wednesday 13th January to Friday 15th January 2010

                                                and

              Wed 20th January to Friday 22nd January 2010

Time:     9am to 4pm

Held at: YouthZone, 143 Forest Road, Hurstville.

Cost: $15 for Non Recipients of Child Care Benefits for each day of the program, no further fees apply. 

Parents registered with Centrelink Child Care Benefit may pay as little as 50c per day.

YouthZone is running a school holiday program for males and females aged 11-15 years.   Activities include rock climbing, ice skating, bowling, bike riding and movies, excursions to Luna Park and the Acquatic Centre. Professional Youth Workers provide quality care at a minimal cost per day, and the program also qualifies for the Child Care Benefit (CCB) from Centrelink's Family Assistance Office (phone 13 61 50).  Contact: YouthZone (02) 9580 8008.

Jumpstart

Jumpstart is designed to target students in year 10, both male and female, who are at risk of dropping out of school before or after receiving their Year 10 School Certificate.  The students are selected under the following categories: prior suspensions, behaviour issues in class, difficulty with academic achievement, intending to leave school at the end of year 10 and high absentee rate.  The program is run in partnership with Blakehurst High School, St. George TAFE and the READY project.

YouthZone's After School Youth Service offers young people over 12 years of age FREE assistance with essay and report writing, maths, science, research and general HSC studies. Homework Help is facilitated by experienced tutors.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We're looking for committed and enthusiastic volunteers to assist young people
12-18 years with their high school and TAFE studies during after school hours.  Volunteers must be 21+ years of age.
